Vintage Rebajes Modernist Hand Wrought Copper Leaf BoxCelebrating over 12 years no ebay! . Cool modernism. This is a completely hand wrought copper box by master craftsman and artist, rebajes. The obx is heavy and well made.
The top has an applied twining leaf and vine. Very nice! Hallmarksoriginal hnad wrought design rebajes. Size4 1/4 x 3 3/4 x 1 1/4. Codnitiongood vintage, there is mottling of the patina as shown in the photos. Historyrebajes lived and worked in new york city and began working in copper during the 1930's. Rebajes was a self-taught craftsman, a very talented artist who wsa extraordinarily creative and original. In the late 50's, early 60's, wanting a simpler life, rebajes moved to spain w he continued to work for more than 30 years. After the death of his wife, which devastated him, rebajes committed suicide in 2001 at age 85.
